Bulletin for Sunday, February 26, 2017

In this week’s pastoral perspective, Jesuit Novice Taylor Fulkerson reminds us to stay joyful throughout Lent, even though it is a time of sacrifice. Be sure to check out the availability of a new way to give electronically during mass using the app Venmo, a discussion group led by Sr. Barbara Cervenka, O.P., a few ASB thank you events coming up in March, and a few different job postings from around the dioceses. As always, check out the many other events we have going on in the upcoming month covered in this week’s bulletin!

Bulletin for Sunday February 19, 2017

This bulletin’s pastoral perspective offers words of wisdom concerning the recent travel ban and how we as Catholic’s should act in welcoming those fleeing from persecution. As a special note for undergraduate students – Ig.nite will be held on Tuesday the 21st this week, not Thursday the 23rd. This is so all can attend Terry Nelson-Johnson’s talk “Sexuality – A Gift – A Threat – A Force to be Reckoned With.” Also be sure to mark your calendars for “Here I Am, Lord”, a free, public concert featuring Dan Schutte!

Bulletin for Sunday, February 12, 2017

Notable news in this week’s bulletin includes a call to all students and young professionals to join our busy person retreat February 23rd through April 18th. During this time participants will commit to 15 minutes of individual daily prayer and 30-45 minutes of conversation each week with a spiritual companion. Also highlighted in this edition are student intern opportunities, information on our capital campaign, LGBT Outreach events, and much more!

Statement of Solidarity from the Catholic Campus Community

The Catholic Campus Community (CCC) stands in solidarity with those who have been victims of recent messages of hate on campus at the University of Michigan. It has truly been an exhausting and polarizing year and we want you to know that despite what the hateful messages have said:

You are welcome here.

You belong here.

Your life matters.

These messages were just the tip of the iceberg in an overall uncharitable climate, and we recognize the pain and fear associated with what has occurred. We are here to support you in whatever way you need, and want you to know that St. Mary Student Parish is a welcoming place for you regardless of your race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, immigration status, or any other identity. We provide study spaces, quiet spaces, and we are here to listen, socialize, and/or support students in whatever ways needed.
