Fr. Kyle Shinseki, S.J.
Fr. Kyle was born in Honolulu and raised on the island of Kaua‘i, Hawai’i. Prior to entering the Jesuits, he studied urban planning and business administration. He became Catholic as an undergraduate while studying at M.I.T. He completed graduate studies at U.C.L.A. and Northwestern and worked in the non-profit and private sectors.
In 2009, his life took a new direction when he entered the Jesuit Novitiate in the Detroit area. After his formation (and degrees in philosophy and theology), he was ordained in 2018. He is fluent in Spanish and has worked to promote the inclusion of diverse cultural backgrounds in the campus communities where he worked and studied. Along with his strong background in campus ministry, he enjoys music, cooking, and sampling a variety of ethnic cuisines.
