DESCRIPTION:Meditations on the Life of Igino GiordaniAn Evening with Dr. William Calvo-Quirós\, American Studies\, UMich. \n\n\n\nIgino Giordani\, known as “Foco\,” was a distinguished Catholic intellectual\, writer\, and politician who dedicated his life to faith\, scholarship\, and service. A World War I veteran\, he authored over 200 works on Church history and helped modernize the Vatican Library. After World War II\, he served as a congressman and directed Fides\, a major Catholic journal that shaped Italy’s postwar political landscape. Most notably\, Giordani co-founded a global Catholic lay movement that influenced Vatican II’s vision for lay participation in the Church. In his later years\, he championed ecumenism\, interfaith dialogue\, peace\, and unity. \n\n\n\nForty-five years after his passing\, we are invited to reflect on Giordani’s example and what it teaches us about living our Catholic faith in today’s world. Join Dr. William Calvo-Quirós\, Associate Professor and scholar of Catholic Studies\, for an evening of reflection on Giordani’s enduring legacy.All are welcome.
